For whom is that time? It's for the people loving nature & connected to sauna world and willing to learn more of the beautiful Latvian sauna culture. It's for the people of light steam. During this workshop we'll be making fresh whisks and course participants will gain a complex knowledge of the basic pirts procedures so famous in Latvia and worldwide when it comes to Baltic authentic sauna experience.
You can be a novice in the whisking world, but it would be good to know how your body reacts to extensive heat for a longer time, since pirts sessions last about 25 minutes each.
We recommend to add both training & accommodation during the course in a droplist below and click 'Dodaj do Koszyka' (add to cart). If you want to arrive with a accompanying person who would not take part in the training, add more 'items' of accommodation to suit your needs. The rest of the payment process is in Polish... Prices are in PLN, but it's an EUR equivalent of 920 EUR for the training & food and 170 EUR for the accommodation. Prices usually go up when it's closer to the course date & places are strictly limited.
Whisks and whisking, the massage in the sauna, is a beautiful tradition of sauna close to nature. At a slightly lower temperature, but higher humidity, with the presence of many herbs, tree twigs (leaves, sometimes needles)... with the smell of the forest. There are many traditions of whisking - in Latvia it is Pirts, in Lithuania Pirtis, in Ukraine, Belarus and Russia - Banya.
During whisking sessions, people in sauna cover and massage themselves with whisks heated over the steam from above the stove. It stimulates circulation, supports the secretion of essential oils from the twigs, cleanses and firms the skin, supports deep relaxation and puts you in a blissful mood.
During this workshop, we will especially celebrate pirts and it's traditions. From collecting and making your own twigs, through intertwining them with herbs, to soaking and wiping each other. We will show you how to do it nice and safely.
Pirts course takes place in two groups 1 - from August 6th up to August 9th and 2 - from September 9th up to September 12th - 4 days - both with Training in English from Māra Zute from Latvia, who will come to us especially for this time and share her knowledge directly. Arrival on the 5th Aug/8th Sept is highly recommended, as individual pre-training full treatments will take place already on these early days.
You will leave the workshop with the ability to carry out a basic treatment with 15 whisks & 5 buckets of water with deliberately different temperatures. The absolute magic of trees in the sauna, positive intentions, energy and warmth of the forest. The number of places for the course is strictly limited, because the course group can have a maximum of 6 people (to ensure high quality of the teaching process).
The course will last 4 full days, course participants start the training on the first date, i.e. on August 6th at 9:00 a.m. and end on August 9th in the afternoon. We recommend arriving as early as August 5 in the evening and leaving on August 9 in the late afternoon.
The classes will take place outdoors, they will include creating whisks for the Pirts session, a theoretical outline and Latvian tradition, as well as, and above all, the practice of the ceremomy. The treatment consists of over 40 elements deliberately following each other in a specific order and meaning. Practiced first on a massage table and then in the sauna, it will give you full knowledge and skills in conducting a basic ceremony.
The course will end with an examination and a certificate for people who successfully complete the course. The course takes place in small groups of max 6 people.
Food & drinks are included the price of the course. Be sure to add both training & accommodation to your order. Sauna experience prior to the course is essential and heat resistance for longer stays is crucial for learning the pirts healthy. If you have never used sauna and do not know your body & how it reacts in a sauna, this may not be an ideal start. You do not need to be a saunamaster to attend, but you surely must love sauna to bits :).
